HELICOPTER EVACUATION

You've probably seen Haiti in the news recently. The airspace is still closed due to the continued shooting at incoming aircraft. Gangs now control 80% of the capital. Over 700,000 Haitians are internally displaced, and more than half are children. UN estimated that “children make up about half of all armed gang members.” The situation is devastating.

Currently, the gangs are working together in an attempt to overtake the capital. Our Haiti director, Daniel, was in Port-au-Prince handling important paperwork for our school when gunfire erupted around his location, cutting off all exit routes. We took immediate action and were able to coordinate a helicopter evacuation for him. We are grateful he is safe.

At this time, an entire generation of children is being forgotten. Children are running for their lives and sheltering in different buildings in the capital for safety. The trauma they are facing is unimaginable.  We CANNOT forget about the next generation during times of war and unrest.

We are grateful to be able to keep our school doors open while it is still safe to do so. We will do all that we can to continue investing in our 48 little ones this year and supporting our 17 teachers + staff. They are on the frontlines. Through their efforts, the next generation will find their ROAR.
