Friday is Spaghetti Day!

Did you know that we feed our students a morning snack and a school lunch every day at Impact International Institute of Haiti? We know that children can not learn on an empty stomach. In the past few years, more than half the population in Haiti has been living in famine conditions, mostly women and children, according to the UN reports. At our preschool, we want to be a solution by not only feeding minds but also hungry bellies.

Fridays are extra special. They get to have spaghetti for lunch, which is most Haitian children’s favorite dish! We ensure each meal contains protein, including peanut butter, salami, chicken, and eggs. For most of them, it is the only real meal they will consume for the day.

The food we provide is vital for their survival and growth. But with the recent diplomatic crisis that caused the border closure between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, food prices have soared even more!
