At our school, we want to give our kids every chance to succeed in life. That’s why we expand our curriculum beyond the traditional subjects taught in most Haitian schools. Activities such as physical education and environmental stewardship lessons help shape our students’ understanding of themselves and their impact on the world. Whether they’re building self-confidence with a soccer ball or working together to keep the schoolyard clean, these little lions aren’t just finding their roar; they’re using it!

Physical Education

In Haiti, physical education is not taught in schools. But we know the power of movement. Kids need to stretch their bodies as well as their minds (as any grade school teacher will tell you!). Physical activities nurture a child’s confidence and critical thinking skills in ways that enhance their learning ability. There’s no obstacle our students can’t overcome when they strengthen their bodies as well as their minds!

MEET CARL MAX

At the beginning of this school year, one of our newly enrolled preschoolers, Carl Max, came into school very shy. He did not cry, but all he wanted to do was go off in the distance and stand by himself.

We wanted him to feel loved and welcomed, so we gave him a ball to play with every morning.

Within the first week of school, he was kicking the soccer ball and finding comfort in it. He was such a natural. He started making every goal!

In a few years, Carl Max is going to be a soccer player!

Now, he loves school so much that every day when his parents come to pick him up after school, he does not want to go home.

Soccer & sports gave him confidence.

From Trash To Treasured

STEWARDS OF THE EARTH 🌎

Trash is a big problem in Haiti. There is no trash pick-up service in the rural areas where piles of plastic wrappers, soda bottles, and food waste rot in the open air. The most common solution is to burn it, which releases pollutants and toxins into the environment. That’s why one of our school values is leaving the world better than we found it. When our kids learn the importance of picking up trash and the impact our actions can have on the environment, we are giving them the knowledge they need to become good stewards. It’s more than caring for the environment; it’s caring for their home.
